Updates 10/29/12
*Thank you to ALL of you that participated in this year's International Book Fair! Kids were reading and walking, reading and snacking, and reading and reading and reading this week!! A lot goes into the planning and implementation of a school book fair. Thank you to our dedicated PTA volunteers, Mrs. Molloy, families, and Quail Ridge Books for making this such a successful event for Wiley.
*Want the extra Halloween candy out of the house ASAP?? We'll take it! Wiley will collect candy donations this Thursday and Friday in the main office. The candy will be taken to local dentists that will then send them to US troops all over the world. I suggest making this into a math activity with your kids: count the candy, graph the candy, divide the candy, add and subtract the candy, model fractions and percents with the candy--then donate the candy!
*Don't forget;
-Wednesday, Oct. 31, is a teacher workday and there is no school for students.
-Nov. 6 is a teacher workday and there is no school for students. (Election Day)
-Nov. 12 is Veteran's Day and Wiley is closed for the day.
-Nov. 13 is Fall Picture Retakes and Report Cards go home.
-Nov. 16 the Snowflake Gift Drive begins.
-Nov. 21-23 is the Thanksgiving holiday

At Wiley we develop our global citizenship through the following four global competencies: Investigation of the World, Recognition of Perspectives, Communication of Ideas, and Taking Action. Talk with your child about one or all of these competencies as you read!
