 Wiley Spotlight

This week’s Wiley Spotlight shines on our Cafeteria Manager, Ms. Amelia Evans.

What do you like to do during the summer? I enjoy spending time with my daughter and going to church.

If you could pick anywhere to work, where would it be? Why? (And you can't pick your present job). I would work anywhere that I could work with children … somewhere in the USA with warm weather!

What's the funniest thing that has happened to you while at Wiley?  There are a lot of funny things!  One time I was walking up the sidewalk to the office and my lens fell out of my glasses. All of a sudden I was wondering why I was seeing things so differently.  I touched my glasses and realized the lens had popped out!

Who was your favorite teacher in school?  Ms. Squire, a teacher at Garysburg Elementary School in Garysburg, NC (near Roanoke Rapids).  She was one that would talk to you, and she could tell if something was wrong.  She had a way of holding you accountable for your actions while also helping you learn.

Volunteers Needed:

Wiley currently has a need for volunteers who can clean projectors, computers and computer tables for classroom teachers.  This task would require bringing a small handheld vacuum and a step stool to reach mounted projectors.  All other necessary tools will be provided (i.e. screwdriver, cleaning kit, wipes).  The best time for this task would be during planning periods of classroom teachers, so as not to disrupt core instruction or elective courses.  This type of cleaning will help maintain the life of our technology devices.  If interested in this opportunity, please email Sadie Hoover at shoover@wcpss.net.
